GetBent
2005 n. - a musical showcase of circuit bent
instruments and musical accoutrements featuring the musical stylings
of Khate, FERALCATSCAN, Controlled Dissonance and The Silence
Bureau, featuring special guests audio/visuals madmen Projexorcism.
Khate
- Khate makes electronic music which she has given up trying to
name, genre-wise. Current major influences include: bells, Godzilla,
vinyl static, the weather, ultradistorted kick drums, graphic
files opened as raw PCM, loss, cicadas, dub, microsounds, thunderstorms,
50's monster movie scores, and mixed peppercorns.
FERALCATSCAN
- FERALCATSCAN is a atmospheric sound collage artist. Mysterious
noise scapes, drones and swells created using an endless array
of circuit bent and/or homemade instruments. A true performance
artist with a flair for theatrics, FERALCATSCAN performances are
each a unique and bizarre experience.
Controlled
Dissonance - Improvisational dark ambient/noise created
with the assistance of a slew of toys - some traditional, some
handcrafted via circuit bending. Layers of gear and miles of wire,
drenched in reverb, whose sole reason for existence is to create
soundscapes for dank places.
The
Silence Bureau - The Silence Bureau is the project
of Richmond, VA artist J.S. Fowler. Offering an amalgamation of
experimental styles, this avant garde act provides a different
flavor of electronica for the most discriminating connossieur.
Projexorcism
- Projexorcism is made up of a quad 16mm projector array that
is suspended from a lighting pole - the projectors are synchronized
with a 4-channel sound-actuated variable speed lighting controller.
The projected images are split, inverted and bent using silver
reflective CD-Rs and a plastic fresnel lens. The optical audio
is fed through various effects and samplers before being replayed
- the mechanical sounds of the relays and the bulbs brightening
and dimming add further organic sounds to the collage of sound.
